Courtney Kishel Powell

Courtney Kishell Powell is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University where she majored in Speech Communications and minored in Business Administration. She earned her Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law in 1997.

Courtney began her career as an Assistant Public Defender in the Dauphin County Public Defender’s Office, where she represented minors in juvenile delinquency and dependency matters. She also represented adults in all stages of the criminal process from preliminary hearings to jury trials, including appellate work in the Superior and Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Following her tenure as a Public Defender, Courtney entered private practice in 2001, where she began her family law practice while continuing her criminal practice. In 2002, she joined JSDC, and her practice is focused almost exclusively in family law.

Courtney is a member of the American Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Family Law Sections. She also is an active member of the Dauphin County Bar Association Courtney currently chairs the Orientation Committee for new members of the Lipsett Inn of Court. She previously served as a Board Member of the Dauphin County Bar Association and the Chair of the Young Lawyers Section.
