ESTATE PLANNING AND ADMINISTRATION

JSDC Law’s Estate Planning and Administration attorneys, led by Neil W. Yahn and Ted Seeber, provide a comprehensive level of planning and counseling services to help clients navigate the myriad of tax laws governing businesses and individuals.  The Estate Planning and Administration Group continually assess the developments that arise from the evolving landscape of federal and state income tax laws and estate regulations and case law, and then incorporate those updates into our estate planning for business and individuals.  Other critical members of this team are Christa Aplin, and A. Mark Winter.

We consider all aspects of a client’s estate planning goals in counseling on a estate proper plan not limited to the available tax benefits, but also to help a client achieve their desired goals.  We employ individualized and sophisticated planning techniques for domestic and international estates, taking into consideration all applicable federal, state and international post-mortem/death tax exemptions.

Lastly, we utilize available tax-reduction tactics, such as retitling assets between spouses or creating lifetime trusts (spousal lifetime trusts), a charitable foundation or family limited partnership, to minimize taxes and protect beneficiaries and advise on income, gift, generation-skipping and death tax considerations to help achieve tax savings. We also help fulfill non-tax incentives, including liability concerns, centralized asset management and continuity in asset transfers. Additionally, our attorneys prepare and design sophisticated trusts, including Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts (GRATs), Qualified Personal Residence Trusts (QPRTs), perpetuity and family dynasty trusts.
